All the Podcasts I’ve Done

Back in college I had two brief stints on the radio. First, was for a class at Southern Utah University where I was a DJ on their college station, Power 91. My DJ name was Benny P, and there was nothing quite like “hitting the post” on those early 2000s pop songs. I could have been a radio legend except I have little interest in the people behind the music, and I would literally just read the Wikipedia articles on the air like I knew what I was talking about. Later, I was a newsman on Classical 89 at Brigham Young University. I’m pretty sure the average age of their listeners was 77, and I was the voice piping through their FM radio at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 a.m. for my hourly newscast. No one ever complained about my newscast, but for my wages of $8 and the requirement that I show up at 5 a.m. I think they knew the complaints department was officially closed. I’m grateful for the time I had live on the radio. It taught me how to coordinate my thoughts and tongue to avoid an FCC inquiry.

Since college, I’ve had the prime opportunity to be invited on a good handful of podcasts, mostly related to knives. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to chat with the hosts and banter back and forth about topics I enjoy. I’ve decided to make this a running list of all the podcast I’ve ever been invited on. Enjoy!

2022 - Firetoss - Knafs, Marketing, Starting a Business

A super fun conversation with Tony and Toby of Firetoss Marketing about how to connect with the hearts and minds of your customer base. We cover YouTube, storytelling, and speaking the language of your people. Tony and his team at Firetoss were highly instrumental in helping us with SEO when I worked at Blade HQ. Good folks.

2022 - Ultimate Survival Tips - Entrepreneurship

Such a fun conversation with my friend David of Ultimate Survival Tips. We cover mentors, business plans, and full sending an idea into the great unknown. This one is particularly meaningful to me because David has been an enormous mentor for me over the years. This one almost feels like a post-mortem around David and my conversations for the past 10 years. Highly enjoyable.

2022 - Ultimate Survival Tips - Pocket Knife Guide

Woosh! David wanted to cover pocket knives, and boy! Did we ever cover pocket knives. In particular, we dive into price, performance, and pleasure.

2021 - Integrity Knives

My friend Josh at Integrity Knives in Canada is a boss, and he is incredibly relatable. He and I started our businesses around the same time, and it’s been a total pleasure to rub shoulders in the knife industry.

2021 - Bearded Gear Podcast - Knives, Marketing, SEO

Jake at Bearded Gear is the man, and it this was a super fun conversation with him on his Bearded Gear YouTube channel. It’s worth noting that since we recorded this, Jake has gone on to create his own knife brand called Luft Concepts.

2020 - Stafford’s EDC

My friend Eddie invited me on for this one, and it was a super fun conversation.

2020 - Everyday City Carry

Rai of Everyday City Carry is a machine. He creates content like a madman, and he’s super funny too.

2020 - Gearing Up Podcast - Knives, Stories, Fun

Greg of the Gearing Up podcast is one of my very favorites. He interviews extremely well, and he does his homework before hitting record. This also means that he gushes over his guests and their work. Good podcast. Great dude.

2019 - Info Trust - Marketing, SEO, Awkward Moments

Interesting one with a few moments that still make me laugh.

2018 - Avocet Communications - Marketing + SEO

Fascinating conversation about SEO after my IRCE presentation.

2017 - Knife Nuts - Blade HQ, Marketing, Fun

The Knife Nuts podcast is a trip. I like these guys so much. They were incredibly kind to invite me on, and they were even more kind to hold back their usual phallic jokes until I jumped off the interview. ;)
